The Rhombus Factory Information System is a modular production control system for medium to high volume manufacturers.

It is unusual in that it has been built up from a shop-floor data collection system, rather than down from an accounting system. This means that it has modules to handle many tasks on the shop-floor which you do not get in other software packages.

Large companies use it as a Manufacturing Execution System.

Small and medium sized companies use it to run their businesses.

Features

In-cycle assembly

The Rhombus Factory Information System supports in-cycle assembly.

For example you might be moulding large automotive parts with a cycle time of 50 seconds.  During the machine cycle, the operator rivets brackets to the moulding from the previous cycle of the machine.

There is a bill of materials for each operation, so for this operation you would specify both the polymer and the brackets and rivets needed for the assembly.

The system will then prompt the operator to record the input tins of both polymer and components to give full material traceability for each output tin.

You can tell the system which raw materials are used in the moulding process, and which are for the assembly process.  Then, if you have to scrap a moulding before assembly, the system will not backflush the parts for the assembly, since they were not scrapped with the moulding.
